Forever Blossoms class cards www.tinascreativestudio.com

Hi,

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I’m doing a bit of a catch-up with classes I’ve held and not posted about. I’ve been in a bit of a fog with the whole Covid-19 and lock down situation, and just need to get back into sharing my creations and inspiring you to make cards and other projects to give to your family and friends, and spread a little kindness.

There’s a couple of different colouring techniques here, which just shows you how different the same stamp can look when you use different mediums.

Here’s the first card:

The card base is Petal Pink, and the panel on top of that is a piece of Pool Party cardstock that has been embossed with the Parisian Flourish 3D embossing folder.

For the feature panel I stamped the large cherry blossom image in Crumb Cake ink on Whisper White cardstock, and coloured in using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. Stamping in Crumb Cake ink gives a softer outline to that when using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. When using alcohol markers you can use Memento or Stampin’ Up’s classic ink stamp pads, which are all water based. Do not use StazOn, which is alcohol based, as it will run and muddy up your colouring.

For the layer behind the stamped panel I used a piece of Petal Pink cardstock, and stamped one of the smaller flower images in Petal Pink ink along the edges. Then I sponged the edges in the same colour ink using a dauber.

Another tip is with the Friend greeting label. I stamped the word on the pink piece which is my matting layer, and punched it out with the Classic Label punch. Nobody will ever know that there is a bit missing behind the floral image. If you have the Classic Label punch you may notice that the punched label is shorter than what the punch actually creates. To shorten it you just put the punched piece back into the punch to chop off the end(s).

I finished off the card with a piece of Petal Pink Metallic-edge ribbon.

Here is the second card.

For this card I die cut the Eiffel Tower from the Copper Foil cardstock panel that is behind the embossed Petal Pink panel. Again, a good way to save on cardstock, especially when it comes to the more expensive Foil sheets.

I used the Mosaic 3D embossing folder to emboss the Petal Pink cardstock background, as I think it looks like paving stones and would be appropriate for the Eiffel Tower.

This time I stamped the cherry blossom image onto Shimmery White cardstock with Saddle Brown StazOn ink, as I was going to water colour the image with my Aqua Painter. I painted Petal Pink and Old Olive ink onto the image and then die cut it with it’s matching die when it had dried.

I stamped the greeting in the same Saddle Brown StazOn ink and sponged the edges with Petal Pink.

Here is the third card.

For this clean and simple card I die cut the flowers from a panel of Petal Pink card, then used that panel as the mat behind the patterned paper. I sponged the edges of the flowers with Petal Pink ink using a dauber and on the tiny star centres I used an Early Espresso marker to colour them brown instead of die cutting them out of Early Espresso cardstock. I die cut the other flower centres from scraps of Early Espresso cardstock.

I die cut the leaves from Pear Pizzazz cardstock and sponged the edges of them in the same colour ink. I also die cut the curved branch from the set, but you can only see one end of it on the card. I used it as an anchor for the flowers.

The only tricky thing with this card is the greeting. If you look very closely the second line of the greeting is not exactly in line with the top line. That’s because the greeting is actually in one long line. To stamp it in two lines I inked the first 3 words using the brush tip of an Early Espresso marker – this is sometimes called the direct to rubber technique. I stamped the first 3 words, then cleaned the stamp, and used the marker to ink the rest of the sentiment and tried as best as I could to line it up underneath the previously stamped words.
